Iowa makes it particularly difficult for rape victims to get an abortion, according to doctors and reproductive rights advocates. This summer, after a long court fight, the state started enforcing a six-week abortion ban, which makes an exception for certain things like rape.

Despite its popularity among most Americans, the Women's Health Protection Act passed in 2021 in the House of Representatives under Democratic Nancy Pelosi's leadership but failed to advance in the Senate due to a Republican blockade.

In response to recent MAGA shenanigans to harm Americans, People Power United - a progressive grassroots group - issued the following statement:
“We must stand united to protect reproductive justice and preserve the rights of all people to control their own bodies. There is no power like that of the people, and People Power United stands ready to protect our communities against any and all injustices,” said Laurie Woodward García of People Power United.
